It's no doubt the most immersive part of the game. I also have to tip my hat to the sound team at Krillbite they must love making people squirm because, by the end of the game, every creaky floorboard, every rusted hinge, every strange noise will make the game's peaking mechanic essential. Thankfully, in between the scares are some nifty set pieces and interesting level designs to keep interesting. There are some creepy scripted scares (one involving a woman by a well comes to mind), a few easter eggs to find, and some genuinely frightening sequences a la "Amnesia: The Dark Descent." Yet, for a game this short, I can't help but feel these are too few and far apart (not to mention largely ineffectual during repeated play-throughs).
